25 Ways to Honor Your Wife

This list came from a Bible Message by Neal Jeffrey titled, 25 Ways to Honor Your Wife. Whether you have a great marriage or one that needs some work, I challenge you to make these a part of your role as a husband and then see what God does in your marriage.

A God-honoring husband:

  1. Includes his wife in envisioning the future.
  2. Accepts spiritual responsibility for his wife and family.
  3. Is willing to say, “I am sorry” and “forgive me.”
  4. Discusses household responsibilities with his wife and makes sure that they are fairly distributed.
  5. Seeks the consultation of his wife in everything and about everything.
  6. Follows through with commitments made to his wife.
  7. Anticipates the different stages his marriage will pass through.
  8. Must anticipate the different stages his kids will pass through and he changes with them.
  9. Frequently tells his wife what he likes about her.
  10. Provides for his family basic living expenses.
  11. Deals with distractions so that he can talk with his wife and kids.
  12. Prays with his wife and kids on a regular basis.
  13. Initiates meaningful family traditions.
  14. Initiates fun outings with his family on a regular basis.
  15. Takes time to give his children practical instruction about life, which in turn, gives them confidence with their peers.
  16. Manages the schedule and deals with distractions.
  17. Keeps his family financially sound and out of harmful debt.
  18. Has drawn up a will and knows what will happen to his kids and his family in case of death.
  19. Lets his wife and children into the interior of his life.
  20. Honors his wife often in public.
  21. Explains sex to each of his children in a way that gives them a wholesome perspective.
  22. Sits down with his wife and encourages her to grow as an individual.
  23. Takes the lead in establishing with his wife sound, biblical family values.
  24. Joins a small group of men who are dedicated to improving their skills as a man, husband, and father.
  25. Allows time for his wife to pursue her own private interests.


Personal Growth
Practical Steps to Grow Closer to God

  1. Have a set time and place to read and pray every day.
    (This includes a time to be still and listen)
  2. Memorize Scripture.
  3. Surround yourself with other growing Christians.
  4. Commit to go to church on Sundays and Wednesday nights.
  5. Lead your family in Bible reading and study.
  6. Pray with your spouse.
  7. Be accountable to another man.
  8. Be apart of a life group on Sundays, Wednesdays, or during the week.

  9. Change what you listen to on the radio: (Listen to KCBI 90.9, WORD 100.7, or KLTY 94.9)
  10. Listen to Christian music & CD’s.
  11. Read Christian books.
  12. Monitor your T.V. time and what you watch.
